Isn’t it incredible to know what designers and decorators can do to promote products that are eco-friendly? Is it a “easier said than done” task? I often ask this question to the designer in me and the answer just motivates me to be conscience driven. I think all designers have the power to take eco fashion and furnishing to an entirely new level.
We as designers must consider all crucial aspects while designing an eco- friendly product. It is not just about the pro environment resources that we must use, but also about diverse processes a product goes through before reaching the consumer. From its ethical sourcing to using organic or natural raw materials, from green marketing practices to its resource efficiency, every little thing matters to produce a product that is completely eco friendly.
The whole idea is to care for the health of our planet and environment by feeling accountable for bringing awareness about all environmental concerns.
I sit back and think a lot of times about the essence of our being and the world we live in. In today’s busy world how many of us find time to recall the values of nature. Of course, many of us speak about being environment friendly but very few of us practice it whole heartedly.
As a designer, I feel this huge responsibility to develop things that show and make you all experience a total equilibrium between the essence of our being and the beautiful nature that has been bestowed upon us as a blessing to cherish and take care of.
Our love for simplicity and a need to return to basics can make this urge of using eco friendly products a huge success. All we require to do is recall the iridescent values of nature and make maximum use of natural products in our home/office and of course clothing.
There is a lot that can even happen in Interior Design under this theme. Designers can work on sandy neutral color sensitivity, soft transparency of water and pearls and the shimmer of pearls and shells.
This trend focuses on natural beauty, material power, and urge for quality and worth and hence has been declared for the creation and development of all sophisticated designs and products. The idea is to create nature oriented patterns and designs along with nourishing ecological comfort and indulgence.
The FUTURUSTIC trend states this relationship and creatively underlines the characteristics of realism and ecological conservation reflections. Everything natural and organic is reflected in this trend like Jute, Hemp, Organic Cotton, Bamboo and recycled fabrics.
Visually and artistically, Futurustic trend focuses on sensitivity and nuances of designs, fine and delicate weaves, frothy and voluminous, and also on ecological and organic patterns.
For instance, the theme REFINED ROOTS signifies irregular formations in patterns as in natural things, implying a modern outlook of “Back to the roots.”
The theme LESSTRAVAGANCE expresses that less is more and treats simple materials to an extraordinary standard of quality. It focuses on eco-luxury with variations in clean and simple styles and elementary forms of luxury and richness.
The theme, INFINITE TIME is about amalgamating crude and raw textures with soft materials. The designs suggest classic solace and comfort with soothing vigor and a rustic poise in the future.
Below is a picture by Flavia Vanelli that depicts this trend very well.
