Amalraj Sengupta: Summer 2011 at LFW

Amalraj Sengupta, an Indian fashion designer is a fresh face in the design industry. He started as a gen Next Designer and now has completed four seasons as an established designer at the Lakme Fashion Week. Being from the same institute- National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata, it gives me immense pleasure to feature his runway collection on my blog.

The basic concept of his label is Futuristic, which takes into account structural experimentation in avant-garde philosophy. The theme for his runway collection for the Summer/Resort 2011 at LFW emerges from a black and white checkered floorboard essentially referring to the game of chess and so he named his line “ In the Game of Chess”, which featured perfectly designed ready-to wear silhouettes. He worked on summer fabrics and experimented with a lot of flaps, layers, pleats and pintucks for both Men and Women’s garments to generate a space age feel. Check out the pictures below.
