Virgin Mojito : A Refreshing Drink

Hey Friends!

I would like to introduce you all to a new category on this blog- Weekend Recipes. Every weekend an international classic recipe will be posted on the blog for you to experience some timeless flavors. Here’s the one for the day.

Virgin Mojito comes from Cuba where it was invented in the late 1800s by the African slaves who used to work in the sugar fields there. It is a refreshing non alcoholic drink which tastes as good as its alcoholic counterpart.

Here is the recipe.

Ingredients for Virgin Mojito:

Limes- 4 (quartered/sectioned)

Crystal Sugar- 8 tsp.

Fresh Mint Sprigs- 12

Crushed Ice- 80 gms.

Club Soda- 600 ml.

Lime Slices- 4 (to garnish)

(Preparation time: 5 minutes; Serves: 4;)

Take 4 long glasses. Put 1 quartered lime, 2 tsp. crystal sugar and 3 mint springs in each glass and muddle together at the bottom to release flavors. Now add 20 gms. crushed ice to each glass and thereafter add 150 ml club soda. Garnish it with lime slice on the edge of the glasses.

Fresh take on the recipe: You may bring in some flavor changes by mixing some fresh fruit juice/apple juice in the club soda or by simply using fruit soda/ fruit flavored vodka.

Enjoy the drink!
